Tooth Whitening

Tooth Whitening Birmingham

Tooth whitening is a highly effective way of lightening the natural colour of your teeth without removing any of the tooth surface. It works with your existing colouring to give you a natural bright, white smile.

There are many reasons why you might consider tooth whitening; ageing, discolorations from the natural build up of organic pigments over time, trauma to the teeth, coffee, tea, smoking or extended use of medications during the development of the teeth could have left you with an undesirable stain.

Procedure

The dentist checks the shade of the teeth at the start of treatment and discusses how light you would like your teeth to be. An impression is taken of the teeth, from this the laboratory makes a thin vinyl tray, like a gum shield that fits to your teeth. The whitening process is carried out using a special bleaching gel (Carbamide Peroxide) which is put in the thin vinyl trays and sits on top of the teeth. Whitening can take up to 14 days depending on how light you want your teeth to look. The dentist will then review your progress to ensure you are satisfied with the result.
